I’m Linda Everett of Inner Power. I’m an accredited coach, trainer and author, specialising in performance. I work with business owners, CEO’s and career professionals who have a vision of success that goes beyond their business goals. They want to increase the success of their business and have a life that works! From my own experiences in business, my work as an executive coach and the understanding I’ve gained of the personal challenges that undermine business and career performance, I know that being great at what you do is not enough to ensure success. The right support is invaluable.
My coaching sessions with Linda produced phenomenal results within a very short space of time. Her continued support has had a direct effect on the growth of my business, empowering me to control the rate and direction of expansion and challenging me to consider new opportunities that keep me on top of my game. – Debbie Stenning, CEO, Database Vision
In 2002, I brought together my experience in business, the skills I’d gained in professional and personal development and more than a decade of study into the psychology of performance, to launch Inner Power. It was the outcome of something that began 20 years earlier.
Background and experience
I started out in business in direct sales, as a consultant with Jafra Cosmetics Int., a subsidiary of Gillette. Running a business from home and juggling family life was tough, but I loved the product and soon discovered a talent for developing potential. Over the following 9 years, my business grew into 9 branches throughout the south-east. As I moved through the ranks to be Area Director, I gained experience in all aspects of business and people development, in management, public speaking, confidence building and leadership, all of which have proved invaluable in my work today.
Business growth depended on the ongoing training and support of managers and consultants, but after the birth of my son, time was more limited. With an expanding business to run and a newborn baby, I began to train over the telephone. It was highly effective and delivered results fast. Listening took on new meaning, fine-tuning a skill I now rely on for transforming performance. Professional development moved up to a different level – more personalised, supportive and accountable!
My interest in professional development drew me to image, where I trained and became one of the founder members of The Federation of Image Consultants. Working with clients, it was abundantly clear that ‘self-image’ influenced the energy and confidence they projected. Whilst dressing for success significantly improved results, it didn’t change their inner image and the way many defined themselves. The concept of ‘inner power’ began to evolve.
Then in the early 90’s, recession brought a new and unexpected challenge to the heart of my family. My husband was out of work for two and a half years, following a long and successful career in architecture and the decimation of the construction industry. After years of working mainly with women, I was shocked to discover how many professional men in similar circumstances felt worthless, measuring their worth by the job they had done, rather than who they were. It seemed so wrong and such a disempowering mindset only compounded their situation.
Meaning and purpose
Without doubt, redundancy, unemployment and any significant experience or change affects both men and women, but the greatest influence and deciding factor in managing any challenge, is our mindset and how we respond. I learnt much from this experience and many more that have shaped my understanding of the power we have to choose our response, regardless of the situation faced. We give away our power when we focus on the problem, yet with greater awareness, there are always opportunities available to us that can successfully transform the outcomes in our business and personal lives.
The skills, knowledge and professional experience I’d gained over many years, along with a deep understanding of what sabotages potential and holds people back, had taken me in a direction that gave meaning and purpose to my decision to train as a coach.
Since Inner Power was launched in 2002, I’ve worked with clients from many different industries and backgrounds who have sought solutions to the professional or personal challenges they’ve faced. Regardless of area of expertise, or how great people are at what they do, anything (or anyone, for that matter) that drains energy, causes stress or undermines confidence, has an impact on business performance and the level of success achieved. I help my clients take control and find solutions that work, transforming their results in business and all areas of life.
